Hero & Theresa

About Me : Hero, a black lab mix with one leg missing (he chewed it off after being hit by a car and suffering a broken leg), and Theresa, a lab/shepherd mix, lived on their own in a public park for over 8 years. Finally, after several litters they raised together, they were trapped by some caring folks. No one would help them, however, although almost dozens of shelters and rescues were contacted.

Feeling that they had endured so much, we said “Enough” and took them in. They came to Animals in Distress for whatever chances they were to get. Both have been given shots, spayed or neutered, and tested for heartworm and lyme disease. Hero is very social and friendly, and he protects Theresa with his life. Theresa is timid and was probably abused at one time. The two of them are very loyal to each other and need to be adopted together. Because they spent over 8 years on their own, the home they go to must be secure, since they (especially Theresa) might bolt and run away if scared or startled. They are probably about 10 years old now.

Theresa: Lab / Shepherd mix
