Montana is a neutered, middle aged Chow Chow who was found as a stray in terrible condition. His skin was black, and he was missing over half of his fur. This sad fellow must have been neglected for a very long time and is just now, after almost 3 months, starting to look and feel better. However, he will need a lot more time and care before he can be back to what he should be. Animals in Distress has taken care of him, given him all shots, and tested him for lyme and heartworm disease (both negative, thank God ). He needs to go to a quiet, loving, and patient adults-only home where he has peace and can heal both physically and psychologically. Like many Chows, he can be protective of his home and family and also fussy about who he trusts. He is housebroken, ok with some dogs and cats, and enjoys car rides. He may need to be sedated for visits to the vet and groomer, since he is not fond of being handled. No wonder - due to the misery his skin and body must have been in. |
